An imaginary fixed lens Panasonic large sensor compact.
Rumors are getting stronger around a new surprising camera from Panasonic. A fixed lens compact with Four Thirds sensor, fixed prime lens and 4K video recording. A cameras smaller than the GM1 and therefore pockeatable!
The camera would be of higher quality of the Sony RX100M3. It will be announced on July 16 already! Sounds great!
Well, Fuji really wanted to give all X camera owners a glorious day :)
There is a software update available for everyone:
_ _ _ Some fixes and improvements also for the X-M1, X-A1 and XQ1. And if you own the Instax Share SP-1 printer, you can now send images directly via WiFi to this little printer without having to send it first to your iPhone. If you own the best sellers in the X-lineup, X-T1 and the X-E2, then you still have to continue to upload your images to your smartphone first and from there send it to the printer. X-M1 ver. 1.20 / X-A1 ver. 1.20
The Wall Street Journal wrote a very negative article against Nikon's strategy:
The market shows growth in just one category: "mirrorless" cameras. Nikon was among the last of major Japanese makers to release a mirrorless camera, and still offers only a handful of models. The company likely fears cannibalization of its high-end DSLRs, but its strategy seems not to be working. Nikon's camera division, more than two-thirds of the company, posted a 9% revenue decline for the year through March
What do you think about the Nikon's strategy?
The recently announced Panasonic FZ-1000 did shake up the industry by offering a tremendous zoom range and 4K recording in a sub $1,000 package.
And according to our sources the Panasonic is the first non-Sony camera using the Sony RX100m3 1 inch sensor. The source also said the sensor will be sold to other companies too (likely Fuji and Samsung coming as next).
It's likely that Sony cares more about selling sensors (and leading the industry in that segment) than protecting their own RX camera range. And actually that's a good news :)
The new Sigma DP2 Quattro promises to deliver "almost" medium format quality on a tiny APS-C sensor. So let's check these new image samples to see if it's true!
Yodobashi posted some low resolution image samples and included a rough ISO test. Also Mapcamera posted some nice images but again no high resolution version. To find them you have to click over at Digitalcamera and Sigma-Japan. They posted some high resolution images you can download to pixel peep!
And what do you think?

Nice camera and lens for the price!

A first look can be read at Fujirumors by Rico.

This could upset the brand new X-T1 owners but Fuji is really already going to offer a new hardware updated X-T1P camera soon!
Fujirumors reports that among the hardware changes there will be a new 4K viewfinder! And now, this doesn't mean the X-T1P will have 4K recording capability. The new X-T1P will have the same "sub-par" video performance.
The camera will be officially unveiled the beginning of July. And I am wondering why Fuji hurried that much to bring an updated X-T1...
We saw it only as a sketch on Sony patents before. But now we have it in real! This is the new Sony curved sensor and it comes in two variations: Full Frame (43mm) and for Mobile Phones and Tablets (11mm).
The Full Frame sensor is likely to find his way in the new RX2 because this is also what Sony patent were showing us: a FF curved sensor used along a 35mm f/1.8 lens.
As far as we know Sony is the only company offering such a sensor and Sony also said at the 2014 Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits event that they developed a special production technique to produce it in mass.
At the end what matters is that: With such sensors corners become 2x more sensitive and have a lot less of issues. And lenses can be designed in a more compact way.
The Panasonic FZ1000 monster zoom and 4K camera got announced today! You can read full specs, price and shipment info at at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
And the best thing is the price: $400 lower than the Sony RX10!!!

The new weather sealed Fuji 18-135mm XF lens and the new Sigma DP Quattro pricing could be announced next week.
We still don't know what the big Fuji announcement will bring us on June 19. Fuji France promised us something unique...

This is a world first: The new Sony RX100M3 is in Stock at BHphoto (Click here). Grab it...or wait for the LX8 with 4K? :)
For once the Megapixel madness is over thanks to the new Sony A7s. And this allows you to shoot that kind of crazy low light stuff like the "candle-light" video you see here on top! Amazing!
Sony A7s preorder in USA/CA at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Sony USA, Sony Canada.
Sony A7s EU pages: Sony DE, UK, ES, FR, IT, NL, BE, AT, CH, SE, NO, FI, PL. And Wex UK.
That would be really a huge surprise: 5 months after the X-T1 announcement Fuji will deliver a "hardware upgraded" X-T1b!
This is quite a unique thing and hopefully this will not upset the brand new X-T1 owners! I would really like to know why Fuji did hurry to deliver such an update camera. Fujirumors reports that little is known about the new features but one of them could be a higher resolution EVF:
